Walking
Audio is a series of walking, hiking and outdoor
guides on audio CD. Each
double-CD
pack in the series is an audio journey, featuring some of the
best walks of the area, together with visits to places that have
made the area famous.

The
audio guide
CDs are presented by Tommy Pearson, presenter of BBC
radio and television and an enthusiastic walker. The audio walks themselves
are guided by other broadcasters with a keen passion for walking and
their companions on the walks are writers, conservators, wardens, historians,
curators, dowsers, walking tour guides and all
manner of experts.
All the
WalkingAudio double-CD packs come in a shock-proof DVD style case and
are in fact much more
than an audio guide; they are packed with fascinating sound, unique hidden
treasures, readings, interviews and a wealth of specialist knowledge
from experts in the field.
Each
production is very much a mixture of travel guide, local stories,
history and background that lead you through the various featured walks
and this carefully crafted
mixture comes from the many guests our teams walk with and meet
en-route. Together with their intimate knowledge, and more than a
sprinkling of humour, they paint wonderful and exclusive 'images through sound'
to be treasured.
Walking
Audio
CDs are not just about walking though; they are filled with practical
information, ideas and places to visit for anyone wishing to visit the
area - even if you stay in your car! With
over two and a half hour's total audio in each pack, Walking Audio CDs can be played on any CD
player - at home, in the car or even on your personal CD player to take on
the walk (you can of course transfer the CD audio tracks to your MP3 player - full instructions come with each pack).
Also, each CD pack comes with
a fully illustrated booklet that you can take on the walk
containing grid references, GPS points, photos and maps. There are 'Direct
Access' marks throughout the booklet indicating which track to go to whilst
planning a walk or if you want to use it
as an audio guide on the walk itself.
All
the music on the CDs is beautifully mixed, illustrating appropriate moments. For example the English Symphony Orchestra's version of Elgar's
'Nimrod' and other Elgar pieces feature on the Malvern Hills CD. (The
ESO is based in Malvern, Elgar lived in Malvern and his walks in the
Malvern Hills provided much inspiration for his work).
The music,
from Nimbus
Records, is
well documented in the booklet and can be obtained separately from all good music stores.
